“ Needed - An Integrated
ERP System for a Manufacturing Environment”
As a leading Manufacturer of quality Drainage products, Wade
International typically buy in castings, tubes etc, machine
them and
then assemble the machined parts into finished products. They
manufacture to stock, and supply to major projects, such as
new factories,
schools or supermarkets. Many of the key aspects of their implementation
of de Facto S5 relate to the Production process, including
a number which were product enhancements created
specifically for them, and which are now standard within S5.
Running a number of products, including a bespoke
Unix-based solution, Wade were looking for a modern
system which would handle all their Financials, Logistics,
and Production activities
in one integrated solution. With a long list of requirements,
especially in terms of Production management
functionality, Wade International chose de
Facto S5 on the basis of
it's powerful features, superior database manipulation capability
and as a foundation for continuing their drive to reengineer
various business practices.

Powerful
Specifications
Management
To facilitate the precise management of the production process,
de Facto S5 has functionality whereby Specifications can be attached
to customers or suppliers. Such specifications could be a drawing
plus an issue number (the version control of the drawing), for
example. Thus, when staff are planning a Purchase Order with
a supplier, they are able to easily and quickly check whether
or not the supplier has the latest drawings of the required part.
|
Again, if ordering a casting, they can quickly establish
via the issue number if the foundry has the right pattern.
Wade also use the system to check whether a supplier
is authorised according to Wade's standards to manufacture
with specific materials.
de Facto S5 is able to store and handle an unlimited
number of specifications. Whether it be drawings, patterns
or tools, for example, an unlimited number of authorisations
for a process can be checked. S5 therefore has enabled
Wade to tightly control procurement processes in line
with procedures specified within their ISO9001 compliant
Quality Management System.
|
|

|
As the focus in manufacturing has shifted from inspections
of whether or not products were made to standard, to that of
concentrating on making them right in the first place, these
facilities in S5
are
a powerful
means towards production efficiency and quality control.
Flexible Handling
of Set Ups
S5 handles all the major
aspects of manufacturing operations
and sequences. One such aspect is that of dealing with
'Set Ups' - the fixed
time needed to set up an operation prior to running it.
S5 also handles materials set up, such as the volumes
that are lost when you start a process on a lathe. These
volumes can be automatically brought into calculations
when viewing information on materials held in stock.
|
|
 |
With its accurate Financials facilities,
and efficient Logistics capabilities,
S5 deploys a host of powerful Production features
which make de
Facto S5 the ideal ERP system for a manufacturing environment.
